LO4 Task 5: Evaluation

Fitness for Purpose
The purpose of the the presentation was to outline how out of Sydney Works and the Matilda rose the UTC Sheffield's creative and digital section. In my opinion I think it was achieved by contrasting how the change has been achieved; I have showed the state in which the original site was left in, how the same spaces were changed to provide a space for a new generation of learners and what aspects of the building have been kept and what has been regenerated. For example, the original fireplaces of the establishment have been kept.

Process Followed
I decide to select content that showed the Matilda establishment in a good light; the art and quotes that were left behind on it's abandoned walls. However, my direction was to also show what was left in those rooms, contrasting it with pictures of the same space but present day. Such as the bare Matilda Noticeboard which was replaced with work from UTC Media Students

Strengths and Weaknesses
'Matilda' won an award for best exhibition installation and will be featured on BBC Look North's program. In my opinion, our most prominent weaknesses was our lack of preparation. The speeches were a bit unprepared on part of myself and Alex who gave the presentation. As I have mentioned before, next time we will have the installation to run automatically.

Appeal to Audience
Particularly I believe that my exhibition has appealed to those who have had involvement with the Sydney Works and the Matilda Building as it was before it became derelict. According to the feedback from the attendees, it is quite clear that our exhibition had a certain appeal and impact

Question 10. Would you be interested in attending our end of year show?
Yes: IIIIIIIII
No: IIIIII

It's apparent that generally the audience enjoyed our exhibition, and only suggested small improvements. To improve upon this, for next time we will better prepare our presentation and organization. For example, our speeches were not as prepared as I would have liked it to; next time I want the event to be more passive and automatic where sound clips are played at random instead of a manual presentation.
I would layout 'Matilda' in a hall where projected screens would play the presentation while reports, vox pops and speeches associated with the subject would be played when a person walks by a wall display.

Script

Matilda is a celebration of the old and new. About what it has become today and what it was. We wanted to show how out of the Sydney Works' ashes rose UTC Sheffield; fulfilling what Matilda wanted, to give art to it's people. To inspire a new generation of designers.
